Fairy Circle
“The Wilder, the Wilds. Home of the wolfking and his children. The land of beasts is no friend to man. The soil riots to our boots and the winds cry our passing. Wander ye weary through circles of the fey.” - Avara Luvo, witch of Dunwel
In ages long forgotten these portals served the beasts of the woods, connecting their burrows and warrens to the land of the fey. Today the fairy use them to prey on foolish mortals. There is a song, It goes:
"O tread ye not near fey-folk's ring,Where deathless spirits dance and sing.
By stone and root their charm is laid,Like snare for those who pass or stray'd.
They watch from warrens, from bush and sprawl,Where mortal boots must never fall.
For time turns foul and paths are lost,And kin who seek thee pay the cost.
Leave milk and bread, then walk thee wide—
And venture not to fey-folk’s side."
This time we’re diving into the lands of the fairy. With many variations on the fairy circle. With seasonal fey court versions and even the Unseelie. I think the one I like the most is the Faun's Labyrinth, Inspired by one of my all time favorite modern fairy tales, Pan’s Labyrinth. I could totally see a Feywild game in DnD where you're jumping between fairy rings and transporting through the various courts and seasons trying to seek something or escape.
